Quidnet Energy

Quidnet Energy was launched with the vision of building breakthrough energy technology to accelerate the energy transition. Utilizing existing hydroelectric and industrial machinery supply chains, Quidnet has developed a new form of pumped hydro energy storage that is modular, flexible, and doesn’t require mountains. The company has four projects under development in New York, Texas, Ohio and Alberta, Canada. Quidnet is supported by Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Evok Innovations, as well as government agencies including the US Department of Energy, the New York State Energy Research and Development Agency (NYSERDA), and Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA).

“Long-duration energy storage solutions, like Quidnet’s, represent the critical missing piece needed to build our clean energy future.” “For over 100 years, the electric system has relied on large stocks of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas to provide the energy storage necessary to stabilize the power grid.  As we transition to a zero-carbon future using intermittent sources of renewable power and minimizing fossil fuel use, long-duration energy storage will be critical to stabilizing the grid and providing reliable, low-cost, clean power.” “We at Quidnet Energy are proud to be part of the founding body to the LDES Council, which offers a fundamentally new way of approaching the global energy storage need by bringing together technology providers and major international energy companies and investors to advance the long-duration energy storage technologies that are necessary for our clean energy future.”
